Im considering Locs for my hair, What should I expect?

Posted on September 24, 2019 at 8:00 AM
The art of Loc's (dreadlocks) is not limited to a hair style. Wearing Locs is a lifestyle journey that must be embarked upon with patience and understanding. Locs are different, and special and worth having, even through the most awkward phases of growth. The ease of maintenance and the polished styles that can be achieved are unique to each individual wearer of Locs.   Whether you need dreadlock maintenance, Loc extensions (fauxLocs), Loc grooming, and/or Loc styling we will consult and customize a plan that is right for you. I would like to personally  welcome this opportunity to earn your trust in loving your Locs.

What do I do with my natural hair?

Posted on September 24, 2019 at 1:05 AM
Women and men start growing their hair natural because it is the cultural response to fixing damaged hair. Others begin natural styling for the versatility that compliments their active lifestyle. Many people braid their hair to grow it and let it rest from harsh daily styling. Others use different braid styles  and other protective styles to compliment their personalities or for convenience because of their busy work schedules.   Whatever the reason may be, we  understand that everything is not for everybody.  However, we are wise to the fact that there is something for every individual.  The diversity in Naturally curly hair styles and textures inspire us to care for healthy hair. Our team has experienced a plethora of hair texture combinations and are committed to finding a style that fits you.       AT CDMH Studio you will experience the skills of a Master Braider, knowledgeable in the art of healthy braid techniques that grow hair. These techniques will be tailored to fit your hair texture and lifestyle.

What are Loc extensions?

Posted on August 8, 2019 at 12:25 AM

Loc extensions are like regular extension. The purpose is to make the hair look longer of more full. The different types of extensions are Faux locs, Wrapped extensions, and pre-made extensions. This video shows the Pre-made method.

For this method the client can buy premade human hair locs online with any specifications: color, length, girth, etc. My client had locs before, and when he cut them off he saved them. Once he was ready to rejoin the Loc-Nation, we reattached them!

What is the difference between a palm roll and interlocking?

Posted on July 29, 2019 at 11:40 PM

Palm rolling and interlocking are both forms of loc maintenance. These techniques allow for the new growth around the root of the loc to be added to the body of the loc.

The objective of the palm roll is to gather all of the new growth in a single loc and roll it tightly, so that over time the new hair will settle into the loc. Pros: a nice sleek look lasting 2-3 weeks, no thinning, no fuzzy loc, wash included, and takes an average of 45min - 1 hr.

Interlocking serves the same purpose, except with the use of a crochet needle; The loc is pulled tightly through itself multiple times until the loc is tight to the scalp, eliminating new growth. Pros: no new growth, last 4-6 weeks, no bulkiness, and great for active lifestyle.

How often should I come for loc maintenance?

Posted on July 29, 2019 at 5:15 PM

For the palm roll we suggest coming back every 2-3 weeks to promote healthy growth, and taming of the loc. For interloc maintenance we suggest coming back every 4-6 weeks so as to not cause loc thinning. With that said, it is important to note that the beauty of locs comes from your own vibe. If you want to wear the "messy" look, then space your maintenance out more. If you want the to be as neat as possible, then come in more frequently.
